About Waltraud
Waltraud Kircher is a self-taught artist. Born in 1958 in Bregenz (Austria), she lives and works in Hohenems (Austria).
The desire to paint has existed since her youth. However, she was only able to fulfill this from 2010 and implement it intensively from 2022.
She learned her skills in a self-taught manner and paired them with her joy of experimentation. Therefore, she works free from external influences and can be guided by her emotions and intuitions. For her painting is a dance with color.
Artist Statement
The artist mainly paints abstract, colorful pictures. She uses acrylic, ink, wax (encaustic), putty, rust or other materials on canvas. The painting techniques are different, but are also combined with each other. Then the transformation process of her painted pictures, which she finds particularly fascinating, takes place using digital media.
This self-developed creative process of painting and changing everything up to the finished picture is always different and inspires her imagination in new ways. The changes and reflections she wants surprise the viewer.
