Artist Statement
<< My works shed light on the personal conflicts I have experienced.
In my works, I investigate the meaning of my existence in different aspects:
Does my way of life match my values? , am I acting out of personal freedom and authenticity? , to what extent does the environment influence my perception of the world?
The self-examination then strives to reveal a deeper layer and the universal question - do I belong?
In my works I distill what the elusive souls have, the umami of the soul.
The field of art in which I work is in the intermediate field between architecture and plastic art. In my education, I come from the field of architecture and my works respond to the relationships between production processes. By manipulating various mediums and materials in my works, I explore concepts of control and lack of control, I bring together materials from two states of accumulation (wax, concrete, paint, and various adhesives) and ready-made materials that have fallen out of use.
In most of my works, there is a figurative dimension. Images of a house, face, and body parts are formed from hybridization and experiments with the material. The material presents the metaphysical, emotional, or spiritual while the pattern and the skeleton represent the limited and fixed physical. I see the works as a hybrid that does not allow separation between these two extremes. My entire work stretches across the divide between material and non-material. Deals with material that "freezes" in time, raises questions of boundaries, stocks, and brides. The artistic narrative challenges the viewer's perceptions of the means and promotes a deeper understanding of the complexities inherent in the search for self and cultural identity.
The works invite the viewer to take a deep look at his definition of self, his place, and his position in the world.>> (Rinat Davidovich)
