Nytia Jenkins is an emerging self-taught artist who works with a variety of mediums, primarily illustration and painting. She employs a broad scale of colors in her work depending on the work’s theme. Photography is a hobby developing gradually.

Artist Statement

<< My artistic approach is to take something that is plain and make it beautiful. Art has been a joy of mine since I was a child. I am self-taught, meaning I do not have any professional training. Many of my pieces are inspired spontaneously. This spontaneity comes from ideas or mental images that may occur at random. I take those ideas or images and try to capture the essence in my artwork. I take my work seriously and put my greatest efforts into everything I create. I strive to create art that is pleasing to the eye and uplifting to the mood. >> (Nytia Jenkins)

Projects

Pretty Abstract Piece - Canvas series

This series consists of a woman posing in a geometric themed outfit and background. Combining art with fashion, the color choices and shapes are meant to draw attention to the details and engage the viewer.

Silhouette et Boutons - Canvas series

This series consists of canvases with a silhouette side profile of a woman. The canvases are painted with acrylic paint and follow the color scheme of brown, pink, and black, and white. The hair consists of an arrangement of buttons in pink and white. Tiny pearl beads are carefully placed among the buttons as accents to her hair. White tulle is placed along the shoulder area to give the painting dimension.

Doll - Photography

Setting scenarios, creating stories, and photographing dolls to share with an online doll collector community. Beginning in 2021, I began a new artistic venture taking photos of dolls and joining the doll collector community on social media. Photos are taken in a similar manner to a real life photoshoot. The angles, backgrounds and setting are carefully selected. A series of photos are taken in order to capture the essence of the scenario.
