About Mike
Mike Guillén is an emerging artist, originally from Baja California Mexico, he began his path in the arts self-taught, and then transcended in a more disciplinary and academic way, studying a degree in Plastic Arts, having his participation in his first exhibition at the Rubén García Benavides Gallery. His production line has focused on the concept of emotional scars, using it as a reflection of his experiences in his creations, in order to show his thoughts and feelings, as a way of facing his anxieties and fears, generating a space in which You could feel protected and safe. His motivation to create such exquisite pieces was a way to close scars, stop silencing words, regain control of life and no longer deny what one feels or what one is not for fear of contempt.
Mike Guillén uses watercolor as a prominent technique, all his work of art contains a symbolic load of signs, from the smallest stain to the largest shape, with each brushstroke he captures the wounds of the heart, the cuts of the past and those not yet exist. It doesn't happen, it turns pain into beauty.
