Artist Statement
For John art is a spiritual experience and bridges cultures together. The symbolic art he submitted includes a body of work that was inspired by spirituality. Some of the spiritual influences are from nature, myths, parables, or other spiritual writings. Other themes in his art include raising issues on global issues. His genre’s include symbolic painting and intuitive abstracts. His artworks are acrylic on canvas and a series of paintings with metal leaf. Cosmic Earth is based on a Philippine Myth and to him represents a statement about climate change. It represents this because the arrow goes through a rock to find water as it relates to a drought in areas across the globe. Portal-Door of Perception is a new series of portals leading into an abstract world which is then open to interpretation. Late artists who have influenced my artwork are Roberto Matta, Hilma af Klint, and Matisse. The artist hopes his art inspires others and visually transports the viewer.
