About Jennifer
Jennifer was born in New New Orleans in 1969.
She currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri in a "boho" urban neighborhood mixed with a natural vibe due to the numerous luscious parks with 100 year old trees.
She got started in the world of fine art later in life but looking back she had set herself up with other experiences to build foundations towards becoming an entrepreneur and an artist.
At a young age of 8, rather than a lemonade stand, Jennifer sold mini pizzas on her street corner that she made from scratch. Later it would be her own greeting cards as well as a mini musical she created, ran-and performed with other students, in the 5th grade called "Corn Dogs".
Jennifer started a modeling career at 12 years old and into her late teens. In her 20’s Jennifer gravitated towards a career in dental lab art technologies where she worked with plaster designs and metal finishing. This work gave her a real practice in having an artistic eye and craftsmanship. Many years later Jennifer started teaching herself how to draw portraits and animals. During this period of time Jennifer and her dog Bella lived nomadically. She had limited resources so she bought children’s paint and other art supplies at local discount stores.
Throughout all the moving, she always found a way to set up some studio space determined to master drawing and painting skills and in December of 2017 one of her paintings was displayed in a Guadalupe art gallery show in Sante Fe, NM.
To expand further Jennifer enrolled in a mastery drawing and painting school intensive that helped her blossom into technical skills to allow her visions to show on canvas.
Jennifers passion is to create art that instills a sense of unity, awakening and transformation through portals in her art works. She channels her creations for energy healing purposes so that the mind can be calmed and soothed through an introspective visual experience.
Her work often combines realism with abstract as well as non- objective abstracts that stand on their own. In Jennifer’s artistic process she uses many elements of line, using mixed media such as inks, acrylic, artist crayon, collage and oil paint. Jennifer currently runs a holistic animal care business and practices energy healing medicine for people and animals.
She continues to curate her art studies and loves art history.
Some of her favorite artist influencers are Hilma Af Clint, Frida Kahlo, Jean-Michel Basquit, Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso and Deborah Remmington.
Artist Statement
<< My artistic approach is a little bit unique in some ways because I’ve worked with energy healing arts since 2007 and its now become a part of my art work. I didn’t begin to paint until 2016 but after so many years; and a bit of push and pull…these two areas of my life started to merge and I began to channel artwork that was to help calm the mind and balance energy. When creating a new art piece, I move into a meditative state to paint portals of various frequencies for transformational tools. Due to the trauma I experienced all the way back in the prenatal phase of my life; I have had to heal aspects of my psyche through art and I am happy to help others in this way. My goals are to keep my feet in both worlds, the fine art world, as well as the world of holistic healing so I intend to not only offer originals but to move into offering canvas prints and regular prints so that all people can afford and have access to them. >> (Jennifer Scalia)
