About Jennifer

Jennifer majored in industrial design in college. She has been certified as a design practical teacher, art psychotherapist, and reading tutor, and she worked as a teacher at a children's art institute and managed it as well. She also worked as an after-school art teacher at a small elementary school in the countryside. Driven by her deep passion for art, Jennifer asked Jinwoo Kim to mentor her. Under his guidance, she has been honing her skills for over 10 years, and it's been about 7 years since She showed her work to the world.

The time when she embarked on her artistic journey coincided with the most painful period of her  life. It was when her twin daughters were born, and tragically, her eldest daughter passed away just 10 months later. This agonizing period led her to delve deeper into the world of art. From then on, Jennifer viewed the act of creating art as a form of inner therapy, recovery, and regeneration—a way to heal her soul. She believes this process allows me to pour all the emotions and experiences she had in her remaining life into her art. Through this journey, her artworks compress every moment of pain and joy, despair and happiness that exist within her.

In the midst of this process, she realized, through an exploration of the essence of art, that its foundation lies in light, and that light is the reason for the existence of this world. Just as scientists say that in quantum mechanics, the state is determined through observation, the creation and appreciation of artworks ultimately fall within the realm of working with light through observation. She came to understand that this is the essence of our existence in this world. We are all products of light.

Jennifer divides the rest of her life into her artwork. At some point, she became captivated by the desire to convey these emotions as they are, without anyone altering them arbitrarily. Therefore, she started documenting the emotions and thoughts accompanying each piece in short writings, hoping that even in the future, she would not modify them.

She creates art based on personal inspiration, and she believes that the artistic process evolves. However, she refuse to limit her creative efforts by confining herself to a specific genre.

Artist Statement

Everything that exists leaves a trace, and Jennifer strives to express it. Specifically, everything she sees is imprinted with colors and shapes through light, leaving behind traces of memories.

Rather than leaving those traces as vague memories or colorless, meaningless remnants in the blurred memories or subconscious, she picks up a brush and add the yearning of her heart to the colors she can express. She wants to share with you her feelings, emotions, and the stories of those moments.

She blends paints, create textures, and tell stories in her own way by harnessing both her intuition and imagination. The traces of light that enter through her eyes are recreated anew at her  fingertips. Through this process, she encapsulates stories and convey her experiences. Jennifer hopes that when you look at her work, you'll pause for a moment to hear her story.

Everyone lives while reminiscing. It could be regrets about the irretrievable past or fantasies about different places and times. Through her artwork, she wants to transport you to a different dimension that she created. In that place, she hopes you can forget all the pain, regrets, and weariness you're feeling right now and immerse yourself in deep contemplation.

The life of an artist is an endless struggle against despair for the joy of creation. She strives to vividly express the beauty around me in her own way, using light, color, and texture to convey her  inner emotions. In this process, what she sees blends with the colors of her emotions. She draw s what she wants to draw based on her own will, not someone else's demands. She often paints landscapes, as they are the best at capturing yearning, but when her mind is in turmoil, she also paints still lives. And when there's no other way to express her heart, she immerses herself passionately in abstraction.

She aimed to convey reality while incorporating the flow of sensory thinking, adding the flow and tremors of light, the temperature of colors, emotions, and subconscious elements. Through this work, everything about her transitions into the artwork. She hopes her life and existence resonate with someone through her art. She eagerly anticipates the moment when her work captivates someone's eyes and stirs their soul, a moment when her creation becomes a masterpiece. Today, She picks up the brush to divide the moments of her remaining life.
