Rosana Chavez is a mixed media artist inspired by the connections between nature and femininity, creating atmospheric and immersive portraits that evoke the artist’s sensitivity to her surroundings.
Growing up in a creatively rich household that moved regularly from place to place, her special affinity for faces and gestures stems from an early fascination with family photographs which kept her grounded throughout their travels.
Her textured paintings bear traces of her multi-disciplinary background in theatre, dance and textile arts– adding layers of movement and depth to her work.
Through her art, she aims to remind viewers of the vibrancy and vigor of the natural world– not as a subtle background, but a bold entity that is indivisible from her figures.
Her most recent exhibitions include a group show with The Holy Art gallery in Mexico City (2026), and a solo exhibition at Art Walk Gallery in Puerto Vallarta (2025).
When she’s not painting, you can usually find her tending to her garden, where she hosts visitors and travelers from around the world with welcoming hospitality.
