Hala Kusiak®, a pioneering artist born in Baghdad, began an artistic journey shaped by the tension between constraint and liberation. Raised in an environment where creative expression was closely monitored, she was prohibited from exploring themes of sensuality, sexuality, or the human nude.
These limitations muted her authentic artistic voice, delaying the full realization of her creative potential.
In pursuit of truth and self-expression, Hala made the life-defining decision to move to the United States. This transition marked a profound turning point in both her personal and artistic life. In America, she encountered a cultural landscape that not only permitted but celebrated artistic freedom. Freed from imposed boundaries, she began to experiment with new visual languages,
courageously engaging with themes once deemed forbidden, and embracing creation with renewed passion and autonomy.
Hala’s work in America stands as a powerful reflection of her journey toward self-discovery and empowerment. Her art speaks eloquently of feminine freedom in creation, resonating deeply with audiences who recognize the struggle for voice, visibility, and authenticity. Beyond the canvas, this liberation extended into her daily life — shaping how she dresses, speaks, and exists unapologetically in the world.

« I am an artist with a bold and innovative vision, driven by a desire to enrich communities across time and generations. My work invites viewers to discover their own creative processes while exploring higher states of emotional and psychological well-being. Rooted in constructive and functional theory, my art captures moments of life and lived experience through multiple perspectives. Timeless in its intent, my practice seeks to awaken emotion and offer the freedom to perceive life through a renewed lens—bridging time and space. Every corner of my work holds a story, open to interpretation and personal discovery.
